How Our Garments Are Made

Inside our Sri Lankan production facility

Every LCY London garment is made in Sri Lanka by people who have spent decades mastering their craft. Our production isn't outsourced across multiple factories or countries. From cotton selection to final inspection, everything happens under one roof, overseen by the same team.

This page shows you exactly how a garment goes from raw cotton to the finished piece in your hands, whether that's a Legacy Wide Rib Knitted Polo or a piece from our Heritage Lines.

What Sets Our Production Apart

Single-Facility Production

We don't split production across suppliers. Our garments are knitted, cut, assembled, and finished in one facility in Sri Lanka. This gives us direct control over quality at every stage, from the Riviera Collection's fine-gauge knits to the reinforced seams on our everyday polos.

Experienced Craftspeople

Our production team averages over 25 years of experience in garment manufacturing. These aren't assembly-line operators following scripts. They're skilled knitters, pattern cutters, and finishing specialists who understand how a garment should look and feel before it leaves their hands.

OEKO-TEX Certified Materials

Every fabric we use carries OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, independently tested and verified free from harmful substances. Learn more about our material choices and sustainability practices.

The Production Process

01

Cotton Selection

Each production run starts with material testing. Our team evaluates cotton batches for fibre strength, consistency, and hand-feel before approving them for production. The cotton used in pieces like the Pure Cotton Striped Knit Polo is selected specifically for its durability and softness after repeated washing.

02

Pattern Cutting

Designs from The Design Room in London are translated into production patterns by our master pattern cutters. Each pattern goes through multiple fittings and adjustments to ensure the right drape, movement, and proportions across our full size range.

03

Knitting & Assembly

Our knitters work on fine-gauge machines to produce the fabric panels, which are then assembled by hand. Signature details like hand-finished collars, reinforced shoulder seams, and clean internal finishing are standard across all our garments, not reserved for premium lines.

The People Behind the Garments

Kumari, Head of Knitting

Kumari has led our knitting department for 25 years. She oversees every knitted garment we produce, from the technical knit structures in our Designer Jumpers to the smooth-gauge polos. Her team handles everything from yarn tension calibration to final fabric inspection.

Rajitha, Master Pattern Cutter

Rajitha translates London design sketches into production-ready patterns. His work determines how every garment fits and moves. He's responsible for the fit consistency across our Adventure Meets Heritage range, ensuring each size holds the same proportions and silhouette.

18-Point Quality Inspection

Every finished garment passes through an 18-point inspection before it's approved for sale. This covers stitching consistency, seam strength, fabric integrity, colour accuracy, button security, collar shape, and overall finishing. Garments that don't pass are pulled and reworked or rejected. There's no "close enough." Our Care Guide helps you maintain that quality once the garment is yours.
